What is SafeBag
A revolutionary grain storage solution designed for smallholder farmers in Northern Uganda to combat climate change challenges
Real-time moisture and temperature sensors in every sack, connected to a central control hub that alerts farmers through colored lights and SMS messages.
Real-time moisture and temperature sensors in every sack, connected to a central control hub that alerts farmers through colored lights and SMS messages.
Solar-powered UV lights that kill mold and control pests naturally without harmful chemicals, protecting grain quality for up to one year.
Green, yellow, and red light indicators that anyone can understand, plus SMS alerts to basic phones when action is needed to protect stored grain..
Designed specifically to address Northern Uganda’s climate challenges: unpredictable rains, longer dry periods, and increased temperatures.
One kit (hub + 10 sacks) costs UGX 150,000 with installment payment options through VSLAs and cooperatives, pays for itself in two seasons
How SafeBag works
Fill the hermetic sacks with your grain and seal them properly. Each kit includes 10 sacks with built-in sensors.
Sensors continuously monitor moisture and temperature levels inside each sack, sending data to the solar-powered control hub.
Hub displays colored lights (green = safe, yellow = check, red = danger) and sends SMS alerts to your phone when action is needed.
Re-dry grain in sunshine, move to safer location, or sell early based on alerts. UV lights automatically control mold and pests.
