Agrovision reaches out to communities
A team from Agrovision, led by Chief Operations Officer Nakalema Assumpta and Chief Technology Officer Okoci Samuel Peter, visited Iganga district to engage with the beneficiaries of the SAYE Uganda project. This initiative is part of a partnership between Heifer International Uganda and the Mastercard Foundation to improve youth livelihoods in one of Uganda’s poorest regions—Busoga.
The visit highlighted the challenges faced by youth groups actively involved in poultry farming. These groups struggle with limited access to critical brooding and incubation technologies, which are essential for improving their productivity.
Heifer International Uganda, is set to introduce such innovative technologies to bridge this gap, with the collaboration of Agrovision Innovations UG LTD whose key projects are Heifer funded. To kick-start this effort, a pilot study will be conducted on two selected youth group farms. The insights gained will shape the development of a suitable Agrihub model, which will be scaled to benefit other youth groups across the region.
The Stimulating Agriculture for Youth Employment (SAYE) project is a USD 48 million initiative running from 2023 to 2029. It focuses on empowering youth (aged 16 to 35) in the Busoga sub-region of Eastern Uganda through;
